BOS HUB NEWS

Last Update: 13-FEB-2013
  • Al Pineau has volunteered to take on the role of Hub Captain for the Boston hub and will also represent the Boston hub on the Noble Air Board. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Al to this new role!

  • Over the next couple of weeks, I will be cleaning up the BOS roster. The plan will be to remove anyone who has not flown a flight in the last 60 days. Having folks on the active roster who don't fly puts the hub at a big disadvantage in the monthly "battle of the hubs" competition. If you are removed from the active roster you and all of your information will still be in the PIREP system. So, if you find that you are able to return to active duty it will be easy to place you back in an active status.

  • The Noble board met on 09-FEB and the primary discussion pertained to the new Noble Air website and forum. It was decided that both were in a state that they could be made "live". The new website is found at "http://www.nobleair.net/". Once some administrative tasks occur behind the scenes, the longtime URL of "http://www.nobleair.com/" will change over to the new site, so both URLs will go to the same location.

The new Noble Air forum is found at "http://www.nobleair.net/forum/". You can also get to the new forum by simply clicking the "Forum" tab on the Noble Air website. Once at the forum site, click the "Register" button on the right side of the page. Here you will enter/set up your forum user name and password. Your forum user name should be your full name (like it is on the PIREP system). If your last name contains an apostrophe (') just leave that character out of the user name (ie: John O'Smith would be John OSmith). Once your registration is approved you will have full access to the forums. The really nice thing is that this is THE Noble Air forum... no more multiple forum sites for Noble and the different hubs!!!

If you have any questions or comments about the new Noble Air site and forum please let me know... or feel free to post something in the forums!

  • Effective immediately, the rank of "Chief Pilot" has been renamed to "Fleet Command ATP Captain".

  • In an effort to standardize the Noble Air callsigns, all Noble callsigns will be changing to use the globally recognized prefix of "NBL". Noble Currently there is a mix of both "NBL" and "NA" callsigns which is confusing. Ed Watson is looking at running an automated process to switch "NA" callsigns to "NBL" within the PIREP system. Pilots will need to manually change the callsign on things like TeamSpeak.

  • Since the new Noble Air site is up and running, I will start to transistion items from the current site to the Boston page on the new site. I don't have an ETA for completing this at this time, so this site will continue to remain active for the time being.

  • Congratulations to Ray Baker for earning the bragging rights for January 2013 Pilot of the Month.

PIREP System News

  • I am putting together a document reviewing some of the features of the PIREP system. One of the common points of confusion is the difference between the PIREP website and the PIREP application. The PIREP website is used to select and book flights and aircraft and can be used to "manually" file a flight report. The document will review these features. The PIREP application is an optional but highly recommended companion to the PIREP web site. The application is used to "record" your flight, so that when you arrive at your destination you can file your flight report with a click of a button. It also allows you to appear on the Noble Air ACARS display. This allows other Noble pilots to see the flight that you are flying and allows you to see where they are flying.

  • A new feature was recently added to your awards page that shows the types of aircraft that you have flown in the PIREP system over the last 12 months. If an aircraft has not been flown in over 12 months it will fall off of the list. Think of it like a list of the aircraft on which you are "current".
